You are on the brand page «Elena Walch».
Elena Walch company was founded in 1985 and is one of the youngest in the Alto Adige region. Elena Walch, being trained as an architect, first became interested in winemaking after meeting her husband Werner Walch, who is a member of one of the oldest wine-dynasties. However, unlike her husband she adheres to a more modern approach to winemaking and sees her task in creating high-quality, modern wines—powerful, deep, and complex. The first thing Elena did after acquiring two magnificent estates, Castel Ringberg and Kastellatz, was to reconstruct the vineyards. Here, on the steep southern slopes of Tramin, new vines of local and international grape varieties were planted, yielding very low but high-quality harvests. The vines are trained on the Guyot system, thanks to which the vines can be planted more densely, and the winery is equipped with the most modern equipment.
Elena Walch’s wines are distinguished by bright individuality: white wines are produced in the Old World style, dominated by fruity tones and natural aromas of the grapes, and the reds, despite their depth and complexity, do not show even a hint of aggressive tannins that spoil the pleasure of classic Italian wines. In just 25 years Elena Walch’s wines have reached the world market and immediately gained recognition not only among the general public but also within professional circles, which testifies to the true mastery of their creator, who has been awarded the title Donna del Vino.
